Sodium Laureth Ether Sulphate

Ohhh, such a long and difficult name to remember! Do you know when I heard this term got the first time? When I was around 22 years of age and believe me that I wasn’t aware what it was. After some more negligent months and years, I came across the real truth that, even though this substance was new to me I was using it every day since my childhood and that too, in many applications like tooth pest, soap, face wash, shampoo etc. For easy understanding, we can call it as foaming agent.

Just for the sake of knowledge, I started to explore more on this subject and now slowly started to unfold the unspoken truth about this agent.

Agent may be a visual indication about the cleaning process and helps removal of stains, dirt and soils but it also gives some allergic effects on human and animals, like eye and skin irritation. For people with sensitive skin, agent may also clog pores and cause acne. Apart from all this we need to consume more amount of water to rinse the goods after cleaning with any agent based cleaning solution.

This means we are wasting Most Important Asset on the Earth in our daily life. According to one survey, every Indian consumes more than 40 lit. per day of water just for cleaning purpose.

Lets derive small mathematics

Population of India X Per day water consumption = total water consumption of India

140 Crores X 40 Lit. = 5600 Crores Lit. per day

Friends do you think that it is threatening?
